A Dastardly Deeds Murder Mysteries New Game:
It’s time again for a new game! We here at Dastardly Deeds aim to put out a new game every few months, and this one is called A Conventional Murder. With many of our player’s overlapping interest in comic conventions and the like, A Conventional Murder just spoke to us! It is full of the tropes that you would expect to see at any great sci-fi, comic, anime, or book convention, but of course we can’t just leave it at that. Now, not to give anything away about the plotline in A Conventional Murder, but let’s just say there are some shenanigans that you wouldn’t expect to see at your run-of-the-mill event. Of course, at any con you would expect to see some cosplay, and you know we love a good costume! As with any of our other games, costumes are not a requirement, but they sure do make a game more engaging when you are playing. Now you’re not just talking to your friend that you saw last week at the bar, nope, now you’re talking to the die-hard fan of some show or comic that is willing to dress up and become the character they are playing. It really can make a big difference in how well players get into their role and how well they try to accomplish their ambitions in the murder mystery.

A Conventional Murder:
I can’t avoid the pun… but A Conventional Murder is anything but conventional. If you’ve played any of our other games, then you know that we love to throw a wrench into typical scenarios that you might expect to see at a convention. Perhaps it’s supernatural, perhaps it’s more esoteric, but you know when you play a Dastardly Deeds Murder Mystery that you’ll get a dose of the unknown! Here’s the basic rundown for A Conventional Murder: die-hard fans and collectors alike all flock to the annual con that this year is centered around the wildly popular book series titled Gladiator Universe. It is being turned into a tv series, much to some fan’s dismay, and famous actors and agents are alongside the returning fan in attendance at this year’s con. You can bet that murder and mayhem will ensue! As this convention isn’t just about Gladiator Universe, there are also fans of anime, superheroes, video games, and other novels that attend every year. This really makes for a diverse cast of characters in the game and can help your players have even more fun pretending they’re an obsessed fan.

A Different Kind of Murder:
We like to try new things here at Dastardly Deeds Murder Mysteries, and this game fit the bill. Many of our games start with a murder having already occurred, but no such mention is made in A Conventional Murder. Hmm… wonder what that means? Perhaps a different kind of murder? I’ll never tell! Likewise, contrary to other murder mystery game companies, we like to have some fun during the mystery with a variety of events that change for each game. In Murder in Silver Gulch, we had a full-blown poker game that happens mid-game. In Single Tractor Mingle, there was a tractor race. In Murder at a Microbrewery, a beer competition is held. A Conventional Murder is no different! During the game, players will want to bid on amazing collectibles in a silent auction. Also, there are famous celebrities that will sign some collectibles during the game, which players will want to get so their items become the best in the game. These events can change the whole dynamic of the game and affect the outcome. This is why no two playthroughs of a Dastardly Deeds Murder Mystery is the same!

In-Person Fun:
A Conventional Murder is an in-person game, which differs from some of our other games. Now that it’s summer and we’re finally feeling safe enough to meet in-person for some parties, many of our games will be oriented to being played live instead of online. It’s finally time for some in-person fun! What’s great about A Conventional Murder is that you can decide to host it outside if you want to. There’s nothing better than getting your pals together and enjoying a summer evening having a few brews and accusing each other of murder!
