The Golden Age of Online RPGs:
While at first we were only focused on creating in-person games at Dastardly Deeds Murder Mysteries, we quickly switched gears as soon as covid hit. We were surprised at the benefits of playing games online. First, it was nice to all be able to drink as much as we wanted without needing a ride home. Second, we found we were able to play murder mystery games with our friends that lived all around the world. Lastly, while there definitely is some loss in not being able to interact with people in person, it’s very easy to set up an online murder mystery. You don’t need to facilitate a place to run the game and it’s very easy to get people to commit when they don’t need to leave the house. (It’s also very nice that you don’t need to clean your house or put on pants.) I can speak from experience that playing online games on a digital venue can be extremely fulfilling and very, very fun. If you can get a group of dedicated individuals together to play with, they can be great guides for less experienced role players and people who have never done games like this before.
